About
The Rapid Archiving Group aims to rapidly preserve federal data sets in advance of the upcoming (2025) transition of administrations. We are particularly interested in data sets we believe are at risk of deletion due to politically sensitive subject matter (e.g. health, climate, criminal justice). We will preserve these data sets with cryptographic validity guarantees and, wherever possible, descriptive metadata. We are working with (and looking for) institutional partners to identify at-risk data sets, share the work, and ensure that data sets can be hosted outside the United States. Contact us if you can help.
We are an international collective of librarians and software developers with deep expertise in digital libraries, data policy, software project management, and more. Members would generally prefer to remain anonymous.
At this time, we are not building a front end for browsing the data sets. However, we are collecting metadata in order to make it possible to build that later.
Thank you for your help in nominating, preserving, and cataloging data sets.
